My persona (click here >)
is interested in reading
and wants to spend more
time reading books. Since
quarantine, she also wants
to have more social (online) contact with people she doesn't know. For her, and for others during these times of social distancing, i am designing an interaction that grants the user a podium where they can share thoughts and ideas on reading books with other users. It will be an app, where people can subscribe to the "mobile book club", so they will receive (physical or digital) books and also be able to share their thoughts and ideas on reading the books with other readers, for example in a comment section or a chat function.
pdf
The app will consist of multiple parts: It will firstly optimise the user's reading list by asking them questions on what genres they like/what writers they like etc. After they have read their first (or second or third) book, they can adjust their preferences and comment on the books in order to specify their book list based on their preferences.

Secondly, readers are able to share their thoughts and comments on books with other readers through a chat box, a comment function, and a rating ability.

This is a first try at creating an app prototype in adobe XD.

"100 Interfaces"
Why drinking?

It is not about consuming alcohol, but about ending a school day with fellow students. Asking them about their day, talking about projects and other things in life.

It is about 'wrapping up' your day before leaving school.

mapping / sketching and making
I narrowed down my ideas to four "subjects"
- distance
- hearing
- beer drinking
- beer drinking 2.0
1. beer drinking 1.0
2. keeping a distance
4. hearing
3. beer drinking 2.0

I decided to go with the bear drinking 2.0 idea.

And decided I wanted to create an interface that would focus on that social aspect of beer drinking at a safe distance.

I created a 3D model with Tinkercad to create a digital prototype of what the construction of my 'beer bench' would look like
the model is designed in such a way that (if produced in real life) people would be able to sit at a table together at a safe (1,5m) distance.

Not only can they sit together horizontally, but also vertically. In this way, there is more space for more people without being too far away from each other

Social distancing is one of the measurements taken to beat the spread of Corona. Standing at least 1.5 meters apart from each other is one of them. For people with hearing disabilities, including myself, this distance can make it hard to hear each other. The solution: old school calling through cans and wires at a (safe) distance!

more benches and seating areas
after talking to Gabrielle, i was thinking about in what ways this interface could also be used in other areas in school, not just at The Willem.

I designed some more prototypes of sitting areas that could be used for other functions or areas in school, for example studying or meetings:
quick sketch.
I decided to design a multifunctional working/studying area that consists of three levels:
1. individual study - 1p "pods" with sound proof and corona proof shields. this pod holds one person at a time.

the level holds 6 pods for 6 students/teachers
2. group work - 2p
these pods are connected with a large table (each person is seated at 1.5m form each other)

People can work in groups of two, while staying at a safe distance. Can be used for meetings, group work, social meeting etc.

this level holds 2x3 = 6 people
3. group work - up to 6p
these pods are all connected and make a room that is big enough to hold up to 6 people.

Every seat is atleast 1,5m from each other so people can have a meeting at a safe distance. Can be used for meetings, larger group work, social meetings, group studying, small classes, etc.

How it could potentially look inside areas in school:
Because this design is actually product design, I wanted to connect it to graphic design by naming it and creating a sort of logo for each bench
